Light Unit S

Turn signal / Tail light / Brake light

Description

  • TURN SIGNAL, TAIL LIGHT and BRAKE LIGHT. LIGHT UNIT S, thanks to its latest-generation SMD LED technology, which incorporates three functions, guarantees high lighting intensity and represents one of the smallest options of its product category in compliance with European homologation standards.
  • A pragmatic design that, despite its tiny dimensions, perfectly satisfies its function.
  • In Light Unit the light beam develops longitudinally in respect to the turn signal fastening point (instead of at 90°, as most commonly occurs in other turn signals), increasing application ease and mounting possibilities.
  • Light Unit, represents a new and innovative concept for Rizoma's turn signals, a light-signalling device that can be effectively fitted in several options according to the specific user’s needs, without sacrificing aesthetic.
  • These plus are actually the cornerstones of its patent.

Technical Information

  • The use of the very latest SMD LED technology ensures compliance with European homologation standards.
    Functions: INDICATOR (12 V - 1,1 W) / TAIL LIGHT (12 V - 0,5 W) / BRAKE LIGHT (12 V - 0,9 W)
M6 THREAD / Indicator tightening wrench included.
  • To fit the indicators, a wiring kit is required.

  • Rizoma indicators come standard with a pair of resistors.
To avoid errors in bikes equipped with a control indicator on the dashboard (only some BMW models), we recommend installation of the resistance kits EE149H (3 W - 38 Ω), which completely replace the resistance kit contained in the packaging of the Rizoma indicators which therefore should not be used.

  • The fitting of the Light Unit S turn signals provides different options.
    REAR POSITION
    - In OEM configuration by using the Rizoma rear turn signal mounting kit in combination with technopolymer holder FR440B.
    - On Rizoma license plate support, which already contains a mounting kit for rear turn signals, in combination with technopolymer holder FR440B (to be purchased separately).
    - By using the double-sided tape mounting kit FR444B and positioning the turn signals in compliance with the current regulations.
The mounting of Light Unit S on your bike always requires the appropriate Rizoma turn signal wiring kit which is to be purchased separately.

  • Please note, since the Rizoma multifunction rear turn signals (S series) also cover the tail/brake light functions, they can be fitted only where:
    - Rizoma has developed a license plate support that includes a specific wiring kit to allow the OEM rear light removal by mounting the multifunction turn signals;
    - if Rizoma has created a specific plug&play wiring kit when the bike has multifunction turn signals as standard
  • Therefore, we always recommend checking the compatible product list of your bike. Where we do not propose three function turn signals it means that the license plate support does not suit the OEM rear light removal or no specific wiring kit has been developed.

FAQs

Q:Homologation and certification
A: This product is certified compliant. To know whether a product is certified compliant, just check for the presence of the letter E immediately followed by a number enclosed in a circle.

Q: What are the electrical specifications?
A: 12V 1.5W

Q: Which lighting technology is used?
A: SMD LED Technology (Surface-Mounted-Device).

Q: What advantages are there to fitting SMD LED indicators?
A: Compared to normal bulbs, LEDs last longer, are brighter and take up less space.

Q: Are resistors included in the package?
A: Yes, 2 resistors are included with each individual tunr signal (10W/15 Ohm ea.)

Q: What is the significance of fitting indicators in either series or parallel?
A: An 'in series' connection is when two or more components are connected so that they make up a single route for the electrical current to pass through$$ if the components have two poles (i.e. are bi-polar), an 'in series' connection requires that one end of each component is connected only to one end of another, with the current flowing in through the free terminal on the first bi-polar component and out through the free terminal on the last bi-polar component. (see diagram 2 in the assembly instructions) - An 'in parallel' connection, on the other hand, is when the components are connected to a pair of conductors so that the electrical voltage is applied equally to all of the components. To understand this better, here's an example with two people: two people are standing between two ropes which are stretched out and parallel to each other. Each of the two people is holding one of the ropes in each hand so that both are holding the same rope with the right hand and the same rope with the left hand.
(see diagram 3 assembly instructions)

Q: I only fitted 2 Rizoma turn signals on my motorcycle but they don't flash correctly. How do I fix this problem?
A: On motorcycles tested by our R&D department, we always fit four turn signals (where possible). We recommend that you seek advice from a specialist workshop or use resistors to adjust the current.

Q: My motorcycle is fitted with LED turn signals as standard. Do I need to use resistors when fitting Rizoma turn signals?
A: No, these are not generally used.
